Mannywellz Serenades A Packed House Full Of Fans, Friends, & Family In D.C. At Union Stage!

It's got to be an amazing and somewhat euphoric experience to come to your hometown and sell out a venue. Mannywellz is one of those unique artists who's been fortunate enough to do just that. On Monday (March 5), the DMV musician performed a captivating set at the newly opened Union Stage in front of a sold-out crowd. The show took a very emotional turn when Manny addressed the audience revealing that he was an immigrant and DACA recipient. Also, the effects of our new government and how it is trying to send recipients of DACA back to their respective countries. Some audience members were so touched by his moving words that tears ran down their cheeks.

In support of those affected by the reversal of DACA, Manny invited 90 recipients from the United We Dream youth organization to come to the show and offered them busing to the event. Unfortunately, only a few of were able to make it after some were arrested at a rally/march early Monday morning fighting for their rights in the streets. The rally personally impacted Mannywellz with his song "American Dream" becoming the theme song of the march for immigrant protection.

On a lighter note, Mannywellz spread even more love on stage, sharing the spotlight with his three siblings, who helped him pass out watermelon to the crowd before performing his single "Watermelon" and bringing out Foggieraw to do his single "U Can't Be My Baby" off the "Fogtavious Vandross"  album. Before hitting the stage the audience was blessed with a phenomenal DJ set by the one and only Little Bacon Bear of DC's WKYS and an opening performance by Sydney Franklin who performed all the songs off of her new EP, "Make it Hurt".

Mannywellz homecoming show was a huge success, to say the least. With the support of House Studios DC, the event went on without a hitch. As he went on to leave the stage, Manny was bombarded with encore chants and came back to perform a song off his last EP. This homecoming for the Nigerian artist was a rollercoaster of emotions infusing the lively performance with a deep meaning of compassion for one another and support for others in dire situations. It is surely one of the best concerts this year, and we look forward to 2018 being a magnificent year for Mannywellz.
